Handyman

My husband is the best handyman! The roof of our RV needed some repair work and he was able to do it! In an RV most showers have a skylight and ours had multiple cracks that could lead to leaks. He replaced the skylight and made sure all the roof was sealed. He was surprised at how many lose screws he found and tightened and sealed. Potentially leak free!

Our patio step needed to be repaired because it was uneven and wobbly. He replaced it with nice even bricks that do not move about! It is now safe to walk on and looks amazing!

Family Time is Priceless

On July 23, 2017 we gathered at Cathy’s house to get our remaining AUNTS together!
The remaining sisters are 95, 91, and 81 years young. They are no longer able to drive the distance to visit one another so we must try to find times that we can get them together. My dad is also with us, he has been with these sisters since the 20’s and is the only living husband so he is tasked with checking up on these girls.

We spent a day laughing and eating and talking about the cousins that weren’t there! A quick count determined we have over 30 cousins!

Time to Go Home

Saturday July 15, 2017 was our last day at the FMCA Rally in Indianapolis. Duf was a bit disappointed that we did not get all of the work done that he wanted and that Spartan did not have the supplies that he wanted to purchase. The fairground did not allow vendors to change fluids, so they could not fix a leak we have in our hydraulic line.
We walked through a few new Entegra coaches and saw some of the improvements they had made for the 2018 models.  The five that caught our eye were: there was a drawer in the stairs, the outdoor TV has a movable hinge, the passenger side shade is split so it can cover either the window or door or both, beside the fireplace there are slide out shelves, and the bathroom mirror was out about six inches with shelves behind. Duf might be able to do a couple of these to our motorhome.

Although the rally did not end until Sunday at noon we left at noon on Saturday. It was time for us to get home.

Indiana Roof Ballroom

We rode downtown to the Entegra dinner on Friday night, 7/14/17, at the Indiana Roof Ballroom with Mark and Bettye. This was an old Ballroom that was used in the 1930 by all the big bands. The thin wood flooring in this room was laid in a big circle and a door was found and preserved that had the bands listed with the date they played there and two employees had rated each band with stars. All the big names from this time had played here and we could just imagine what a fun place this must have been during that era.The room and the restrooms were ornate and well preserved. Entegra puts on an amazing dinner with a band and dance contests!

FMCA

Wednesday
Thursday, 7/13/17, was another rainy day. The guys went to some informative meetings while Bettye and I walked around the displays and I purchased some cleaning rags that leave no marks. When we met the guys we were hungry and encouraged them to feed us. We took our name off the list to ride our bikes to a BBQ Restaurant for dinner. We were glad we did not try to go because on their return ride a big wind came and it began to pour rain. We had a late lunch/early dinner with Mark and Bettye at Scotty’s Dawghouse. There were over 45 TVs in this restaurant! The food was not very tasty but the atmosphere was fun and dry! After eating we returned to the RV so I could rest my leg that was hurting from my fall. This was the correct thing to do because by morning I felt much better!

July 12

Tuesday

It was raining when we woke so we were not able to take the breakfast bike ride. Our bikes are still on the car and covered. The ground around our coach is quite soggy. We spent the day in seminars, finding Sheldon and looking through the vendors. We went to dinner with Mark and Bettye at the Aristocrat Pub, a restored old building in an area being rejuvenated. The atmosphere was inviting and the food quantities were huge and delicious.

July 15, FMCA Rally

Monday
The day was rainy so we decided to go to a show and found a place called BrewFlix. It was a brewery and a movie theatre. They serve food and drink in the lobby and in the show. We saw Baby Driver and the star driver has the same thing my brother has in his ears!

We brought Salmon, that Duffey had caught , so we could have a dinner with Harry, Sandi, Mark and Bettye. Harry cooked the Salmon for the four of us because Mark and Bettye were having trouble getting parked. When they finally were parked they came and Harry cooked they dinner. Mark and Bettye brought the best Michigan Cherry Pie I have ever tasted!
On Sunday 7/14/17 we are headed to Indianapolis, IN for the FMCA rally. The rally did not begin until Monday but we wanted to get through Chicago with the least traffic. We were lucky and they parked us when we arrived at the fairgrounds. It was 91 degrees and very humid so they even turned on the electricity so we could use our AC! One of the great things about rallies is that friends we have met along the way are there and we get to reconnect! Mark and Bettye, from TX, will be there and so will Harry and Sandi from CO. We have invited both couples  to the Entegra dinner on Friday night.
We are parked on the grassy infield of the Indiana State Fair Grounds horse track. Harry and Sandy are two streets down on the cement, but they are at a low point of the area. Mark and Bettye are on gravel in a lot that is a distance from the Fair Grounds. Indy has had rain daily since we arrived and some coaches have had to move because they were sinking. Truck loads of gravel and dirt have been brought in so that other coaches are able to exit when needed. One lot was informed that they might not be able to exit until late Sunday because of standing water!

Mark had the gravel under his coach and a gravel road to exit his parking area. Harry will be able to exit because the rain has stopped and the flood outside his coach has dried. We are in grass and will have the most trying exit. Duf always puts wood under our tires and jacks and that is going to be very helpful in this sinking situation.
