Memphis, TN

We only drove by Graceland because it was raining and I have the broken ankle so I could not walk around. After the drive by we want to return to walk around his plane and home and museum, which is huge! We also ate at a place Elvis used to walk to and sneak in unrecognized so he could enjoy a meal.

98 and the car

Grandma Ainsworth is a spry 98 and has been driving. She passed her drivers test but then got a letter stating that she could no longer drive because of her age. She is not a happy lady and is very upset with the state. All those years of driving and not one ticket!
The car, her baby and freedom, was sold to a military guy which made her a bit happy.

Winter 2017 in AZ

We spent the winter at Happy Trails, The Ranch, in Surprise, AZ. It was our first time staying in a  55+ community and it was amazing. There was so much to do and so many people ready at a moments notice to do anything and everything!

 We visited friends we met in FL!

 I made flowers from dishes!

 I broke my ankle and was laid up for almost 3 months.

 We ate pie at a famous pie restaurant.

 We played bingo with Wanda on Friday nights. Duf played golf. I got new clubs the day before I broke my ankle and they are still in the box!

70th Anniversary

My parents have been married 70 years. Every morning as my father left for work my mother walked him to the door and kissed him before he left. Now that they are in their 90 and living in assisted living they spend their days together. They still hold hands and enjoy each other!

We had cookies made that resemble them. Minimum order was 150 which they thought was way to many but everyone wanted one! Cute and delicious!

I wanted to give them a party but they did not want the bother people so we had a card shower and they got an amazing amount of cards. One of my cousins that they had not seen for a few years even stopped in and gave them a flower. 

Family

Today I took my mom and dad to my Aunt Darylne's home in WI. My mom has two sisters and one brother in Janesville that they were very excited to get to visit. When we all get together there is a constant drone of chatter. We all love the fact that my dad listens to the conversations for about the first hour and then he settles in for his afternoon nap!
Jodi had just been to Hawaii and she brought each of us a May Lay which isn't flowers but some sort of nut off a tree. They were all very light except the one Natalie selected. On the way home Natalie was wearing her necklace and it started shooting out pieces of sand! We decided that is why the necklace was a bit heavy!
Always something!

I have been locked out of this blog for a few weeks! I finally figured how to get back in!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Duffey's mother, Jewel, turns 98 today. Up until a month ago she was still driving her car to dance class and the store. The state of AZ decided Jewel was to old to drive so they took her drivers license. Jewel is not at all happy about this turn of events. She still lives in her duplex in Sun City, AZ.
We spent the winter in AZ so we could help Jewel and found that she was having some memory issues. Duf's sister Fran and her husband Bob decided they would move into Jewel's condo  with her and assist with her care. They make sure she gets to dance, luncheons and wherever she needs to go, personal chauffeurs!
