Kung fu

I decided to get a new mattress for the guest room and waited till the last minute; company was coming and the bed only had a new box springs on it. I visited many stores and looked at mattresses but found that the mattresses are 'in stock' only at a warehouse hours from here and they can get it delivered in a few days. This is a holiday weekend so those few days meant next week and our company would already be gone!
I purchased a mattress in a box and using my new mattress knowledge figured it should be comfortable! I learned that getting wrapped coils under the foam and having holes in the top foam made the bed breathe and less likely to hold body heat. Took the queen size mattress home and no one was home so I drug that 98 pound item out of the car and up the stairs and into the bedroom! I got it out of the box and onto the bed and sat down on the box springs for a rest. Bad idea cause those box springs are not comfortable! I had the directions on opening in my hand was getting up to move to a chair and read them. This is when things went wrong!
I must have put a small puncture in the heavy plastic around the mattress as I was getting up because within seconds the mattress came alive! It blew out of the heavy plastic and proceeded to unfold and expand tossing me back onto the box spring and landing on top of me. It was quite painful to push down on the springs and crawl out as the mattress continued to take on a life of its own. WOW!
I finally made my way to the chair, opened the directions, and read as I watched the mattress grow.

Please hand this to a responsible person so that person opens this mattress. This mattress knows Kung fu and may unroll itself at lightning speed! Keep pets and children free from its kick radius. Please be extra careful when cutting it free from its bindings. Your new mattress has been under a lot of pressure recently and may lash out at you if not unwrapped carefully. Please give him/her some space for 24-48 hours. This will give your mattress time to relax and decompress. Also please be sensitive to your mattress as it may have an odor after being set free. Being sealed in plastic on a long trip can make anyone a little fragrant. So no harsh words about the smell for a few hours. You wouldn't want to offend your new best friend, Zinus.

I am beginning to feel as if someone is moving into the guest room!

Anyway it did unroll with gusto, it did have a bit of a funny smell but after 24 hours the smell was gone and it was comfortable to sleep on.  Our guest said it was the best sleep in months and on night two it was even better! So after 48 hours the feel did improve and tonight will be 72 hours so I hope it is even better!
