Our goal today was to take a narrated covered wagon ride around Independence, MO. 

We learned a mule doesn’t sweat like a horse so it can work much longer, but when the mule is finished it just sits down and refuses to get up. This ride took us down a one lane road that was the start of the trek west to CA for the gold! The driver was an amazing story historian so we learned about the beginning of Independence, MO.

After touring the tourist center we left to visit Jerry’s cousin, Glenn, and his wife, Donna. Donna cooked us an amazing dinner of salad, strip steak, baked potato, homemade bread and finished off with apple pie and ice cream. They had three cats and I was amazed how friendly these cats were.
