FUNNY but NOT

After the hospital and a short stint in a Physical Rehabilitation place Duf had to visit the orthopedic Dr. Our first appointment was scheduled at an office 90 minutes away! It was a trip of pure torture for Duf. Even worse is that when we got there the nurse had scheduled the appointment for the week before when he was still in the PR place. She had texted me one date and put it in their computer wrong. Still when I showed the text we were sent home with another appointment two days later at an office 30 minutes away. This ride was not as painful but it still was not a pleasant voyage for Duf. Got there, checked in, took an uncomfortable seat and waited. After 20 minutes I asked if there was a problem and was assured it would be soon. After an hour I again asked and was told we were next to be called in. I encouraged Duf to hold strong for a few more minutes and he would see the Dr. I barely got those words out of my mouth when a nurse came out and announced all patients of Dr. K would have to reschedule because he had been in emergency surgery all morning and had no idea when he would be in. I quickly go up and went to the window to reschedule but the receptionist would not look at me. I guess like a dog caught in the wrong she knew she was wrong to tell us he was there and we were next. So another lady took me into an office and we rescheduled for a day away.
Big day of our third but first appointment is here and another uncomfortable 30 minute ride with a hint of ‘he had better see me today’ in the air. We were ushered right into the room and Dr. K appeared handing Duf an envelope. Dr was all into the envelope so Duf opened it and it contained an apology note and a gift card. Duf was not impressed and just handed it to me and started with his questions. Dr K spent all the time needed explaining things to Duf and we felt better when we left.
Funny Part
Fast Forward about a month and we take our ‘Grass is always greener’ adventure with Carole and Jerry. We stopped for breakfast at First Watch, the restaurant of this gift card from Dr. K . We felt this was a restaurant with a  great atmosphere and some interesting and delicious food choices. Jerry decides to be a gambler, since the card is from a DR., and he offers to use the gift card to pay and then he will pay the remainder. We have all guessed the card will hold between $25. and  $50. So he will probably only be leaving the tip. It seems like a good gamble to Jerry! The three of us step outside to wait for Jerry to use the gift card. Jerry comes out with a crazy grin on his face because the gift card was not what any of us, especially the gambler, expected ! This card held the HUGE amount of $10.00, barely enough for a cup of coffee. Boy did we get a laugh out of that! This is just one of those things you never forget.

Added Funny part
About six years ago I purchased a $100. Gift card for Natalie’s boyfriend. He took Natalie out for dinner and they ordered large because he figured it would be basically free! He used the gift card and it only had $28.32 on it! HA  I had lots of research to do as to why it was short.

Moral of the story might be to not look at a gift card in a positive way until you check the amount!

Large portions at First Watch.

 Avocado toast and egg whites.
 Egges, sausage, pancake
Bacon, egg, blueberry pancake
