Today we ate right on the water at the New Little Bar located in Goodland. The bar owner, Ray, is from Chicago and was a collector for years. Just about everything in the bar/restaurant has a story. In 1998 Ray closed two restaurants, one in Oakbrook and the other in Downers Grove, IL. Many of his artifacts are from these restaurants. He has artifacts from restaurants I remember visiting when I was young: Henrici’s, Arley’s and Andy’s to name a few.
The boat room looks like a boat with the wood being salvaged from Billy O’s “Star of the Everglades” which was in the movie”Wind Across the Everglades” with Gypsy Rose Lee and Burl Ives. I remember my Aunt Mona taking me to the outdoor theater to see the Gypsy Rose Lee story and I surprised her and stayed awake to watch it. Gypsy was famous for her striptease act!
The food was ok, the outdoor seating was amazing, the company was superb, and the indoor artifacts were quite interesting.
