We left Anchorage and followed the Seward Highway along the north shore of Turnagain Arm into the Church National Forest. This highway winds through the mountains with the Arm on the other side, it  has dangerous winds and drop offs! The Turnagain Arm got its name from Captain Cook when he entered the arm and had to once again turn around and leave. The Turnagain Arm is a dangerous area, although it looks beautiful and it seems you could walk way out when the tide is out the silt is like

quicksand. The bore tide also comes in with waves that reach 6 feet and are moving at a rapid speed. This is a dangerous area if you go off the lookouts.
Beluga Point is in Turnagain Arm and it is the place to see the the all-white Beluga Whales. They could be in the Arm or they could ride the bore tide in. They are hard to photograph because they blend with the strong wave foam.
