Dease Lake is an Indian village that has a grocery store, gas station and beautiful RV park.  There is no cell phone service and the only phones in the area are pay phones. There is limited internet that costs $5.00 per minute. The beauty of the area makes up for the lack of service for the one night we are here. It is amazing to hear that they do not watch tv or worry about the net.
We met four boys and they were dragging a bear skin around to lay a track for their dogs to follow. It was not long and we saw two blue tic hounds, two Rottweilers and two red hounds following the trail, looking for their masters. Outdoor entertainment!

Jade City, population 50, is not really a city but a highway community made up of one jade business which is a commercial outlet for the 1 million pounds of Jade mined yearly along the Cassiar Highway. I now own nice Jade earrings! The Cassiar Highway is a narrow, winding mountain road lacking center lines and shoulders with bumpy rough pavement, gravel breaks and sharp curves. We got to drive the Cassiar in the rain!
