Alpine, TX is the home of Sul Ross State University situated on a 4,849 foot mountain peak with amazing views of Alpine and the surrounding area. In 1981 three students carried a teacher desk to the top of the peak of Hancock Hill behind campus. We obtained the directions to find the desk and took the long, steep hike up the hill. We found the desk and signed the book and the desk top!

 It was a tricky path with beautiful but  unfriendly cacti along the way! I made it too! Someone had to take the picture!
