We left Albuquerque for Roswell, home of the 1945 incident. We stayed at the quaint Red Barn RV Park. Jerry was in heaven because the office had a refrigerator filled with a variety of ice cream treats for $1.00 each!  Our next stop was Big D’s Downtown Dive for a delicious dinner of turkey burger, hamburger, Philly cheese steak and salad. At dusk we drove to Bitter Lake, outside of Roswell,  to view the sandhill cranes migration. Twenty-five thousand of  these four-foot-tall primeval creatures  alight in boggy meadows the locals refer to as lakes. The cranes shout at each other in territorial disputes and bob in nuptial dances as they settle into a nighttime equilibrium. It's all part of the life of the sandhill cranes.
